Tree Preservation Orders (TPO’s) are
designed to protect our important trees and woodlands, but they
can be a problem if they impact on property or lifestyle.
Legislation recognises that trees
are living and more particularly ageing organisms and therefore
they are not irreversible.
• Dead
• Dying
• Dangerous
When applying to fell, prune or
pollard a tree, you must demonstrate that one of these characteristics
is evident before taking action. We are able to commission an appropriate
arboricultural report and construct a case for presentation to the
relevant authority. |
|
In our experience community groups or parish councils may be the
main opponents on arboricultural issues. Effective liaison with
these groups is advisable and we are able to present your argument
in a well reasoned and sympathetic way.
Trees covered by a Tree
Preservation Order can also be removed if this is required in order
to carry out development. This is a complex area of planning law
and we can advise on the issues involved.
